About

The Binary Music ukulele club, ‘Dukes of Uke’ was formed in August 2009 to enable anyone with a desire to play the ukulele an opportunity to make music using this simple, affordable and easy-to-learn instrument.

We meet at Binary Music Studio Cleveland Plaza Shop 11 (48 Bloomfield St). We are right next to the Binary Music shop in Queensland, and have fun just strumming and singing along to well-known tunes. Everyone is welcome – we have all ages and musical abilities, but the main thing is to enjoy playing in a friendly social atmosphere. We also have a performance group who are kept busy playing at various community events and local uke festivals throughout the year.

Our group uke classes run every Thursday morning. There are two levels:
1. Beginners at 9am (only in 1st and 2nd school terms)
2. Beyond Basic at 10am

Ever since the Covid pandemic struck in 2020, we also offer remote participation via Zoom in the 10 o’clock class, and have several regulars who attend in this way. Some of our members who usually attend the studio session sometimes join us on Zoom if they are out of town or on holiday somewhere.
Anyone can book a Zoom ticket via the trybooking.com website. Our event link is:

Our Advanced ukulele group, known as the Archdukes, play more challenging music with several uke parts. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month at 10:30am at the Binary Music Studio.
